Director

I have been in library service for 30 years. I have been an employee of Deckerville Public Library for 15 years. I was the Assistant Librarian for 7 years and now I have been the Director for the last 8 years. I truly love

library work. I love working with and helping people of all ages.

Our site has been on the web since June 1999. I have enjoyed designing and putting our site up on the World Wide Web.

It has been great fun for me doing this project but at times it could be very challenging and frustrating. It has been worth every bit of the frustration.

I would recommend this to anyone that has the time and patience. It has

taken me about 8 months to get everything together to put this site on the

web. I had to do a lot of homework and studying but it was all worth the time

and trouble.

The future for our library is expansion because we have run out of space.

We now have three computers for patron use: one for the Internet, one for

the card catalog and one combining card catalog, word processing and

various CD usage. We will need to build on to add more space for

improvements so we have just had the property surveyed to see how much

land we have. I will keep you informed of our progress.

All of us here at Deckerville Public Library are here to help you find what you

are looking for. If you are not able to find what you are looking for at our

library we will be happy to look through Inter Library Loan to see if we can

locate it for you.

Inter Library Loan is a service that we provide our patrons through our White

Pine Cooperative. White Pine has a database that we can access and look up any material we do not have to offer you at our library. This way we can see if

another library in our cooperative has that material for you. If the White Pine database does not have it we then look in the OCLC database which consists

of libraries throughout the United States. This service has a $1.00 charge for deliver which is very inexpensive consider the cost of books and material

these days.

Now all of us here at the Deckerville Public Library are here to serve you. So please do not hesitate to ask any one of us for help
