Was born at Deckerville, March 1892, son of John and Margaret Baird, attended the Deckerville schools. His occupation was hardware merchant. As assistant leader of a contingent of Selective Service men he went to Camp Custer May 27 1918. He has one sister and two brothers: Gertrude; Max and Mackenzie. He was promoted to rank First Class Private. Left for overseas with Co. H, 339th Infantry July 19, 1918, is still in the service.

Was born in Elk Township, February 20, 1896, son of Milo and Ada Mack. His occupation was farming. He has one sister and three brothers: Flora; George, Otto, and Frank. He went to Camp Custer April 1, 1918 as a selective Service man. Transferred to Fort Riley May 2, 1
918, sailing for overseas June 10, and still is stationed over there. He is a member of the Medical Detachment.

Was born in Carsonville, April 20, 1893, son of George and Matilda Odlum, attended Carsonville schools. His occupation was marina steward. He has one sister and two brothers: Mrs. Lucy Myers: Richard and George. He was a selective Service man going to Camp Custer April 1, 1918, before being sent to Camp Custer he joined the Marines at Paris Island, and after two months’ service was honorably discharged. He belonged to 313 Bakery Co. Q. M.
C. Was promoted to rank of First Class Private May 24. While at Camp Custer he as in an automobile accident and received a fractured skull and broken ear drum. Received his honorable discharge on September 20, 1918.

Was born in Forester Township, October 3, 1894m son of
Edward and Mary O’Mara, and attended the Deckerville high school and University of Detroit. His occupation was Civil Engineer. He has seven sisters and three brothers. Mrs. Peter Walsh, Agnes, Lucy, Rosella, Julia, Loretta , and Clara; John, Edward and Patrick. He is a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer September 21, 1917. Was promoted to rank of 2nd Lieutenant October 1, 1918. He is a member of Construction Department and is stationed at Camp Custer..

Was born in Evergreen Township, September 5, 1893, son of George H. and Louise Mc Kee, attended the Hay Creek schools and the Cass City high school. His occupation was farming. He has one brother and two sisters: Engene; Edith and Phebe. He is a Selective Service man and left for Camp Custer September 21, 1917; transferred to Camp Mac Arthur, Texas, October 31, 1917, and left overseas February 16, 1918. He is with the 125th Ambulance Co., 32nd Division, and is with the army of occupation in Germany. His rank is First- Class Private.

Was born in Maple Valley Township, January 14, 1892, son of George and Matilda McElroy, attended the Brown City high school. His occupation was farming. He has two sisters and two brothers: Margaret and Helen; William and Richard. As a Selective Service man he went to Camp Custer, May 27, 1918, embarking for England in July of the same year, from three e he sailed for Archangel, Russia where he is now stationed with the 339th Infantry Co. M.
For bravery in action he awarded the French medal.

Was born at Carsonville, September 12, 1891, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Graham, and attended school at Carsonville, Bad Axe and Big Rapids. Prior to his enlistment was engaged in the clothing business at Carsonville. He has one sister, Mrs. F. E. Saxton. He enlisted at Detroit in the Navy June 24, 1918,and was sent Great Lakes Training Station, Illinois. He was promoted to Company Commander, with Coxswain rating. He was married in 1913, to Miss Gladys M. Allan, of Port Sanilac, and has one son and one daughter, Bethel, age 5, and Robert, age 3.

Was born Lapeer County, March 6, 1890, son of Richard and Etta Burgess, and attended the Deckerville high school. His occupation was harness maker. He has one brother and one sister: Raymond; Mrs. Robert Cowan. He is a Selective Service man and one of the contingent to go from this county to Camp Custer September 21, 1917. He was transferred from Camp Custer to Washington September 30, 1917, and went overseas November 12, 1917. He is a member of 5th Co. and is still in France.

He was promoted to Corporal November 1, 1918, and belongs to Quartermaster’s Corps, and still is at Camp Custer.

Was promoted to rank of First Class Private November 17, 1918 he belonged to Camp Custer, and was mustered out of the service December 21, 1918.

His occupation was druggist. He had two sisters: Florence and Agnes. He is a Selective service man and went to Camp Custer May 27, 1918,and as assistant leader of his contingent. He was a member of the 15th Co. he died at camp Custer October 15, 1918.

He is Selective Service man and went to Columbus Barracks September 22, 1918. He is a member of the 11th Co. Quartermaster Unit. And still in the service at Columbus, Ohio.

July 13, 1918., embarking from there for England and then France, was transferred back to England and sailed for Russia where is now stationed he is a member of Co. F, 339th Infantry.

He has three sisters and two brothers: Anna, Sara, and Evelyn; Ross, and Elmer. He is a Selective Service man and left Camp Custer April 29, 1918 and left for overseas July 21, 1918. He was bugler and a member of Co. G. 139th Infantry. 35th Division was gassed October 7th, 1918 at Argonne Meusc. He returned home February 24, 1919.

Was born at Marlette, December 4, 1895, son Mr. and Mrs. John Schneider. He went to Camp Custer November 22, 1917 and was later transferred to Camp Dix; was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant August 26, 1918. He was a student of the Michigan Agricultural college prior to his enlistment. He was discharged from military service at Camp Custer.

Was born at Applegate, January 25, 1894, son of Joseph and Emma Walker, and attended the District school in Washington township. His occupation was farming. He has two brothers, Pvt. William Walker, of Camp Custer and Henry at home, and five sisters, Mrs. Howard Mills, Of Forestor,; Mrs. Garfield, Benedict, of Applegate; Mrs. Guy Osborn, of Detroit, and Esther and Nina at home. He was a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer September 21, 19172-, and was later transferred to Waco, Texas. He sailed for overseas February 23, 1918, and died October 11, 1918, of wounds received in action. He was a member of Headquarters Co. 126 Infantry.

Was born in Elk Township, July 23, 1890, son of Andrew and Janett Dresser, attended school at Port Huron, later entering the University of Michigan . his occupation was civil engineer. He has two sisters and five brothers: Nettie and Irene; George Charles, Lee, Alfred and Frank. He was leader of a contingent of Selective Service men that went to Camp Custer September 21, 1917. Was transferred to Columbus Barracks, Ohio, December, 1917. He sailed for France March 28, 1918. Was promoted to rank of Sergeant. He is attached to the Meteorological Division, Field Detachment. He is still in the service.

Was born in Lexington January 7, 1885, son of William and Etta Nunn, and attended school in Lexington Township. His occupation was farming. He had three brothers and three sisters: Harold, Frank, and Everett; Zannie, Ida, and Ethel. He was a Selective Service man and left for Camp Custer May 27, 1918, and transferred to Russia as a member of the 339th Infantry, later died of pneumonia.

He belongs to Headquarters 110th Regimen’ F. A., 29th Division as a first class Private. He is still in the France.

He is a member of the 13th Engineering Corps, a cook. He is still in the service.

And from there to Newport News May 20, 1918, and went overseas the last of June. He was promoted to motor mechanic August 1, 1918, and belongs to Supply Co. 105th Field Artillery. He is still in the service.

Was born at Lexington, December 3, 1894, son of Ambrose an Sarah E. Avery, and attended the Cedardale school. He had four brothers and sisters: Harry, Floyd, Fred and Russell; Ruth, Gladys, Maggie and Blanche. He was a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer May 25, 1918: was a member of Co. H. 339th Infantry and left for overseas in July. He was killed in Russia October 1, 1918.

Was born at Carsonville, November 30, 1891, son of William and Rose Kerr, and attended the Miller school. His occupation was farming. He has one brother, Hugh J. Kerr. He left for Camp Custer, November 22, 1918; was placed in Battery C, 328th F. A. In January took up cooking in the cooking and baking school at Camp Custer, from which he received first cooking papers: He was then placed in Battery A, 328th F. A. and in July was transferred with 85th Division to Camp Mills, N. Y., and from there sailed for overseas, landed in England and is now near Metz helping to care for the prisoners released from Germany.

He is A Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer August 30, 1918, and was a member of the 253 Field Hospital. He returned home in February 3. 1919.

Landed in England and is now on active duty at Archangel Russia.

Was born at Peck, June 21, 1892, son of James and Rose, attended the Peck school. His occupation was farming. He has two sister and six brothers: Mad and Etta; Charles, Arthur, Frank, Roy, Earl and Purl. He is a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer May 27, 1918. Sailed for overseas service on July 20, 1918. Was over the top twice as was blind for 18 days from effects of mustard gas. He was gassed on the 27th of August at Cambria Hill. He belongs to casual Co. He returned home from overseas on January 7, 1919, and brought with him a German knife and belt.

He has one sister and three brothers: Eva; Allan Theodore and Goldie. He is an Enlisted man, enlisting in the Marine Corps., at Detroit, August 12, 1918 and was sent to Paris, South Carolina. He is still in the service and a member of 455th Co. D. Battalion.

As a Selective Service man he went to Camp Custer April 29, 1918, transferred to Camp Mills N. Y, July 14, sailing for France on the 22nd of that month. In October he was promoted to the rank of Corporal. He is still overseas a member of Co. I.

M, 339th Infantry. He was transferred in July to Long Island from where he sailed for overseas and still is in the service.

Was born in Speaker Township, August 14, 1888 son of George and Frances Grimes, attended the Speaker school. His occupation was farming. He was a Selective Service man and went from this county September 21, 1917. Was transferred to Camp McArthur. Texas, in October with the 32nd Division which afterwards became famous. He had three sisters and one brother: Annie, Emily and Jennie; Robert. He sailed for France February 5, 1918. It was during the battle of Argonne Forest, while assisting a wounded comrade, he was killed, October 11, 1918.

Was born at Applegate, June 6, 1890, son of Thomas H. and Elizabeth Graham, and attended Peck school and Ferris Institute at Big Rapids. He has three brothers: Thomas N., John H and William L. his occupation was traveling sales man. He was a Selective Service man and went Camp Custer September 8, 1918, and was leader of his contingent. On October 30, 1918, he was transferred to Fort Worth, Texas , and on July 18, 1918, was promoted to Sergeant. He was a member of 815 Depot Aero Squadron, and returned home February 4, 1919.

He has two brothers and three sisters: William R. and Frank; Mary E., Kitty, Martha. He is a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer May 27, 1918; transferred to Camp Mills, N. Y., July 15, and about July 25, left for overseas. He is now in Russia with Co. M, 339th Infantry.

Was born at Mills, Sanilac County, December 27, 1891, son of Engene and Sarah Russell, and attended the Mills and Deckerville high school and the Ferris Institute at the Big Rapids. He has three brothers and sister: Park, Roy, and George; Myrtle. He is a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer May 27, 1918; was a member of Co. A., 339th Infantry and left for overseas July 20, 1918. Prior to entering the army, he was engaged as a mechanic in Detroit, and also taught school for several years. He is still on active duty in Northern Russia.

He is still in the service and is stationed at Camp Custer.

He is a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer June 2, 1918. He is a member of Co. G, 4th Infantry, 85th Division. He sailed for France in the fall of 1918. He has not returned home.

Was born at Forestville, August 15, 1894, son of Charles and Lena Rauh, and attended school at District No. 8, Delaware township. His occupation was farming. He has two sisters and three brothers: Sophia and Helen; Howard and Clearance. He was a Selective Service man and went to Camp Custer April 1, 1918, and was a member of Co. F. 3rd Replacement Brigade. On May 3rd he was transferred to Camp Gordon Ga., and on June 22nd was promoted to Corporal an was again promoted to Sergeant on July 12th. He was transferred from Camp Gordon, to Camp Wadsworht, S. C., September 14th and was discharged from the army December 24, 1918.

Was born at Snover, May 18, 1896, son of William H. and Sarah J. Dorman, attended the Snover school and Michigan Agricultural college. His occupation was farming. He has one sister and two brothers: Ruby; John H. and Wesley. As assistant leader of a contingent of Selective Service men he went to Camp Custer April 29, 118. Transferred to Camp Mills N. Y., in July where he embarked for overseas service. He was promoted to rank of Corporal August 31, 1918. He is still in France, a member of the 310th Ammunition Train, 85th Division.

Y., where he was transferred in July 1918, for France arriving there in August. He belongs to the 310th Ammunition Train but was later transferred to the 329th Field Artillery Supply Co. He is still in the service.

SEAMAN ARTHUR M. THICK
MARLETTE
Was born in Sanilac, County, north of Marlette, June 17, 1895, adopted son of George and Ermina L. Thick, and attended the Hager District school, Marlette Township. His occupation was barber. He enlisted in Detroit in the Navy, September, 1917, and was sent to Great Lakes Training Station, after which he was transferred to U. S. S. Minnesota November, 1917, in the Engineering Department. He was on the Minnesota when it struck a mine off the Atlantic coast September 27, 1918. Although the explosion tore a hole on the starboard side 45 feet ,from the ram, and extending aft 40 feet , he was only slightly injured. He is still on the ship. His father and mother are both dead—his mother dying when he was only 2 years old and his father about ten years ago. When he was between 4 and 5 years of age he was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Thick, who have cared for him ever since.

Was released from active duty December 21, 1918.

He has three sisters and four brothers: Maggie, Belle and Bessie; Peter, George, Harrison and David. He was an assistant leader of a contingent of men that went to Camp Custer November 22, 1917. In the Spring of 1918 was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and sailed for France with the 85th Division July 29, 1918, a member of the 328th Field Artillery, Battery C. Still in the service.
